Volkova Sisters is based on the hungarian songwriter duo, Daniel Sandor and Dalma Berger. They began this project 2 years ago, based on the passion and respect of the dark wave sounds from the eighties. Think of the shimmering distortions of My Bloody Valentine combined with dreamy landscapes of Cocteau Twins.
The name was dedicated to William Gibson, the father of cyberpunk, Volkova sisters are one of the main characters from his book, Pattern Recognition. Their aim was quite simple during the songwriting: they were mixing electronic elements with shoegaze sound, though after they found their band members, their presence and musical ideas leaded the first demo tapes into defined songs and also strong live performance. Their upcoming album, Venus Robot, is in the finishing process.
